The United Nations as Your Government – Coming Soon?

The third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development was held last week in Quito, Ecuador.

During the four days of the conference, plans were outlined to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development— a plan approved by 190 world leaders (including Obama) last September.

The conference, dubbed Habitat III was the most well attended U.N. conference on record. With more than 50,000 delegates in attendance, the sole purpose of the conference was to approve a 24 page document entitled the “New Urban Agenda.”

The sweeping agenda highlights 17 goals aimed at ending hunger, wiping out poverty and stamping out global income inequality by “transforming our world” with the implementation of radical changes—ostensibly aimed at freeing cross-border “labor mobility,” among other things.

Results of the historic gathering have not been widely publicized, though the noteworthy items are as follows:

• Unlimited Migration—Migrants displaced by war, failing economies or other hardships are viewed as having “rights” in nations other than their own.
• Fundamental Transformation of Cities—The document calls for a “paradigm shift” in planning, developing and managing urban areas.
• Climate Change—A renewed commitment to fight climate change with a focus on the economy, calling for fundamental changes in the way our societies produce and consume goods and services.
• Emphasis on Global Citizenship—All people are stakeholders and no one is left behind.

These resolutions come packaged as “non-binding” and Congress never approves them, but their affects can be felt nonetheless via regulations and federal grants. Any city that accepts federal grants will at some point be required to implement the practices that the U.N. has declared “sustainable.”

What does this look like operationally, you ask? In July 2015, Obama’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) enacted the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, which forces grant-receiving cities to infuse their low-crime suburban areas, deemed “too white,” with subsidized housing marketed to low-income renters.

The U.N. agenda essentially is a roadmap to global governance where American cities will no longer get their direction from elected officials representing them on the city council, or even the state legislature, but the United Nations itself.

To sum it up, the U.N. agenda is anti-capitalist, anti-liberty, anti-Second Amendment (see U.N. Arms Trade Treaty), and is a total assault on the Tenth Amendment (state’s rights). Note: If you are not familiar with the Tenth Amendment, please make at attempt to understand it as it is one of the most important.

If your vision for America does not include one world standards in education, healthcare, taxation, etc. and you are not in favor of foreign bureaucrats dictating policy to you at the local level, then get out to vote.

Author’s Notes:
Governance by foreign bureaucrats in the EU (many of whom have never held a job outside of government) was the reason for Brexit. The British elected to leave the EU because they believed a return to local governance would best address local issues.

Interestingly, the Habitat III conference made many mentions of peace, but none regarding security. Despite all of the violence and turmoil in the EU caused by the migrant/refugee crisis, there was no policy discussion around the threats an open border presents. Neither was there any discussion regarding the effects open border policies have on drug trafficking.
