If you’ve ever struggled with how to arrest control of an attacking arm at the point of contact during the overhead stab (or hammerfist) defense, the video below will go a long way in improving your driving and grabbing of the attacking hand.

Keep two things in mind, (1) the hooking motion created by your partner should approximate the line you ideally want to utilize to drive the attacking hand back and down, and (2) the hooking motion should facilitate the hands/body/feet movement principle (therefore, consider the rate at which the hook is applied as you train this concept).

As always, don’t become overly concerned with the stark reality of the hooking motion – a good counterattack mutes this tactic. And as always, walk in peace…
