Iran Continues Its “Bad Actor” Focus While Undoubtedly Spending Recent Windfall Of U.S. Cash To Fund More Terror.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, (IRGC) the country’s elite fighting force, announced its plans to send assets to infiltrate the United States and Europe.

Deputy coordinator of an IRGC command front, Salar Abnoush was quoted by state controlled media as proclaiming, “The whole world should know that IRGC will be in the U.S. and Europe very soon.”

The announcement has come at the behest of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Knamenei, whose stated intent is to thwart plots against the Islamic Republic.

Abnoush went on to say, “The IRGC is the strong guardian of the Islamic Republic. The [fighting force] are under the order of Iran’s Supreme Leader. Defending and protecting the [Supreme Leader] has no border and limit.”

Saeed Ghasseminejad, an expert from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the Washington Free Beacon: ‘If we look at Iran’s previous terror attacks and assassination campaign around the world, such a statement is alarming. The Islamic Republic has killed hundreds of Iranians and non-Iranians around the world in a coordinated campaign of terror.”

Iranian military and religious leaders have continued their barrage of threats aimed at the U.S., despite their signing of the nuclear accord earlier this year and their receipt of secret cash payments (totaling at least $1.7 billion USD) sent by the Obama administration.

Many congressional leaders have expressed concern that the large cash payments the U.S. made to Iran would be used to fund more terrorism and political assassinations. Indeed Iran has increased their military spending in recent months, while Iranian vessels continue to harass U.S. Navy ships in the Persian Gulf. Just in the last month, the USS Mason was fired upon in three separate instances by Iranian funded rebels in Yemen during U.S. patrols of the Gulf of Aden. Iran’s attitude of ‘death to America’ has not altered. Now Western security forces need only focus on how this infiltration might occur:

  • Amidst the migrant crisis in Europe, it would be rather easy for IRGC agents with the ‘right’ documentation to slip easily into Europe.
  • Hezbolla, a terrorist organization funded by Iran has been operational in Mexico for years and has established working relationships with drug cartels, making infiltration into the U.S. relatively easy via tunnel or smuggling routes.
  • Additional concern regarding Hezbollah’s cooperative engagement with Venezuela persist. Reports indicate “…an increase in Iranian nationals traveling through Venezuela to receive false documents, which they use to cross into the United States.” If Iranians are enjoying such freedom of movement, this would exponentially increase the security threat to North America.
  • The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reported the apprehension of more than 180,000 illegal aliens originating from countries other than Mexico between 2007 and 2010. Additional U.S. government assessments indicate that smugglers are moving illegal aliens from East Africa, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia, often through drug tunnels traversing the U.S.-Mexico border.
