Here’s a Drill to Help You Optimize Your Krav Maga Hook Punch.

The Krav Maga hook punch is taught many different ways–some good, some, not so much.

And, the hook punch has a fair amount of nuance in that the process for throwing the punch is rightly modified based on upon angle and distance to the target. Much of this is intuitive once you have the base motion down and subsequently explore the variations available to you.

Generally, students telegraph the hook punch during the loading process or the release of the punch, the angle to the target is often too wide, the elbow is frequently lower than is optimal, and recovery is relatively slow and inefficient. These are a few of the most common issues with the hook punch.
